The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
A comedy drama written and directed by the great Wes Anderson, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” is one for the books. This film follows Zero and Gustavo, the lobby boy and hotel concierge, as they survive the hotel
and a changing world. This film has it all: murder mystery, prison break, found family, nostalgia and fascism. Wes Anderson is notorious for creating beautiful films and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” is no exception. Pathfinder (1987)
This Norwegian action-adventure film follows a young Sámi boy through an arduous journey to save his people. The movie takes place in Finnmark around 1000 AD, following a young boy named Aigin. Aigin and his family are attacked by the Chudes and Aigin is forced to find help in a nearby community. After a failed counter-attack, Aigin has to take on the Chudes on his own, using his mind rather than his strength. This historical action-packed coming-of-age story holds much of the charm of ‘80s films while also introducing historically accurate Sámi cultural practices. With an 86-minute run time, this movie is a must-watch.
